Tips & Tricks for Building and Programming a Robot Animal

• When building and costuming make sure and leave an easy way to change batteries or charge a re-chargeable battery pack.
• When building and costuming make sure that the NXT start button and display is easily accessible for starting your program.
• Check lighting conditions and re-program each time you bring your animal out for display.
• Beware of using shiny surfaces if you are using the light sensor.
• Be aware of shadows from people and things close to your animal; these things can drastically effect your light sensor.
• If you are using the ultrasonic sensor beware of things in the view of the sensor that might change your robot's behavior.
• If using the sound sensor be aware that visitors to your zoo exhibit and other noises can effect your animal's behavior.
